If you eat calcium and iron together, the calcium will prevent your body from absorbing most of the iron; so rule out all of those cold cereals with iron, you’ve been had! Blackstrap molasses, because of its high iron content (15% of your daily in 1 tbsp) and high potassium (potassium, Vitamin C and manganese increase iron absorption), does allow for a good amount of iron absorption despite its calcium. But in general, consume calcium- and iron-containing foods separately (and add a plum when eating iron-containing foods—it boosts its absorption!).
